Hurricane Season: We’re Ready, Are You?

Exciting news for all our current & future customers!

Today we finished installing standby back-up power generators at all Freedom CNG’s Houston sites meaning that despite the rain, wind & water, we will be able to meet your fleet’s fueling needs even when the power goes out.

As you may remember back in 2008 during Hurricane Ike, many of us experienced first-hand the difficulty of finding fuel both as the hurricane approached Houston and after it hit. Gas stations either had insanely long lines to fill up or simply ran out of gasoline & diesel due to high demand. (Not to mention that Ike pushed gasoline to $4.85 a gallon!)

With CNG fueling stations, this won’t be a problem. Pipelines are operationally reliable during hurricanes and have a safety record of 99.999997% meaning that if a major storm or hurricane hits Houston, chances are that natural gas will still be available for CNG fleets. Our new generators will keep the stations operational and natural gas will continue to flow in the pipelines so we can fill you up and you can get the job done for your customers!

Diesel: Two Steps Forward & One Step Back!

Two steps forward & one step back is how we would describe the continuing increase in diesel prices. If you believe that the new normal is long-term cheap diesel, then by all means keep on trucking!

If your fleet needs a fuel that will remain consistently cheap with stable pricing, then CNG is the ONLY answer. Call or email us today for more information! or 281-484-3875

Diesel emissions are not just a Volkswagen problem…

Edward Niedermeyer for Bloomberg View published THIS ARTICLE on April 22nd discussing the ongoing Volkswagen diesel emissions scandal and how it is not just VW or even diesel vehicles whose benefits were being exaggerated and manipulated.

Some quotes from the article worth noting:

  • “U.K. authorities announced this week that their testing shows diesel cars emitting an average of six times the legal limit of nitrous oxides, an air pollutant, in real world conditions.
  • “…investigations and prosecutions have focused largely on nitrous oxide emission from diesel engines. But given the scope of the problems and the cheating exposed, there’s little reason to believe the scandal won’t spread to gasoline engines and carbon dioxide emissions….”
  • “The public impact (emphasis added) of automakers bending or breaking the rules on nitrous oxide emissions are local: High concentrations of the pollutant are linked to elevated rates of respiratory diseases and cancer in cities with large diesel fleets.”

CNG vehicles’ emissions are cleaner and their fuel is cheaper than their diesel counterparts….you can count on that! Call or email us today for more information about adopting CNG. We hope to see you around the pump!

A Reliable Fuel Price or a Volatile Fuel Price?

Question for fleet owners and operators: Would you rather operate your fleet burning a fuel whose price per gallon you can accurately predict or one that has massive volatility and whose price is subject to the self-interest of foreign nations?

This is one of the main distinction when comparing CNG and Diesel. Don’t take our word for it, check out the prices recorded by the Dept. of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center over the past decade.

CNG’s price (in blue) remains flat thanks to domestic natural gas production while, conversely, Diesel and Propane (in black & red) spike up and down making both very hard to reliably predict.

With CNG, a fleet can “know” its fuel costs and sign long term fueling contracts with assurance that the price will be consistent. With Diesel and Propane…not so much…

NGV Journal: First high-speed CNG station opens in the Permian Basin

It is always exciting to see Freedom CNG featured on especially when the article is about our opening a new station.

The new Permian Basin fueling site will be open 24 hours a day and is located between Midland & Odessa off I-20 SE of the Midland Airport.

One of the best features about our the station is that it has a flow rate of 12 Gallons per minute which  makes it is the fastest CNG fueling station in the Permian Basin!

“Eight CNG-powered trucks can fill up at our new station simultaneously, without waiting in line, in as little as eight minutes compared to fueling times of over 30 minutes at other stations,” explained Freedom CNG President Bill Winters. “That’s a big difference to a trucker who is trying to maximize the number of loads he can haul per day.”

I could not have said it better myself! Come by for a visit sometime or please call or email us if you would like more information.
