Very interesting article by the BBC.com‘s Environment Correspondent, Matt McGrath:

Paris, Mexico City, Madrid & Athens are all taking steps to adopt and implement a diesel fuel ban (similar to the one Tokyo already has in place) by 2025. The mayors of these four cities are encouraging other major cities plagued by poor air quality to join them.

Prior to the 2025 deadline, city governments would help encourage the move away from diesel by incentivizing alternative fuel vehicle adoption and promote various other transportation methods like carpooling, public transport, cycling and walking.

It is Freedom CNG’s hope that alternative fuel incentives would include CNG as an option. CNG is a clean burning alternative to diesel and can help reduce vehicle emissions of:

  • CO by 70-90%,
  • NMOG by 50-70%
  • NOx by 75-95%
  • CO2 by 20-30%
